    Why Clearfield County is a Great Place to Live

    Along with a strong work ethic, deep sense of family and community and access to resources and markets make Clearfield County highly desirable for business expansion and relocation.

  • Infrastructure- Complete water and/or sewer infrastructure is readily available throughout all 51 Clearfield County municipalities. In recent years, Clearfield County has been experiencing a spike in planned residential development countywide. New home construction continues to grow and outpace many of our neighboring counties in central Pennsylvania. Additionally, Clearfield County boasts over 500 acres of tax-free commercial and industrial sites with complete infrastructure. These sites are available for immediate development.

  • Transportation- U.S. Interstate 80, also known as the Keystone Shortway, crosses the middle of Clearfield County for 42 miles from west to east with six intersections with major state and federal highways. I-80 provides residents and businesses easy access to many of the county’s major metropolitan areas and second tier cities. Exits include 97 and 101 at DuBois, 111 at Penfield/Clearfield, 120 at Clearfield, 123 at Woodland and 133 at Kylertown. Principal interstate highways passing through the county include U.S. Route 119, 219, and 322, plus State Routes 36, 53, 153, 255, 879 and 970. The Corridor ‘O’ project anticipates to reach completion by 2010. This major highway will connect Interstate 80 in Clearfield County to Interstate 99.

  • Coal & Timber Reserves- Clearfield County is a leading producer of bituminous coal, exceeding four million tons annually from surface mining companies. Over 500 members, and growing, of our community are leading the way to supply the nation’s demand of energy consumption.

  • Hardwood resources are plentiful. More than 1,500 members of our community use up to date woodworking technologies to utilize this resource.
